Memorandum of Understanding between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to Strengthen cooperation on environmental protection and pollution prevention to achieve Sustainable development in both countries.

The MoU signed by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley and Minister of Climate Change and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Malik Amin Aslam. The MoU was signed at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh.

The memorandum aims to encourage cooperation on increasing vegetation cover and combating desertification through environmental protection and natural resource management. Also mentioned are protection of coastal and marine biodiversity. Other goals are combating pollution, reducing the impacts of human activities on the environment, improving of air quality monitoring methods, and take action to reduce air pollution. Also important is waste management of toxic, chemical, and hazardous materials. Emphasis also needs to be placed on environmental monitoring and standards. Using media to raise environmental awareness in both countries will be an important tool.

The Memorandum encourages the exchange of scientific documents and information relating to the environment, between the two countries. This also applies to the sharing information related to natural disasters. Another objective is promoting technical specialist visits between the countries to focus on environmental protection from pollution. Joint development of training programs to produce competent specialists in the fields of research as well as regulations and law.
