The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced investment opportunities worth SAR120 million in the production and multiplication of seed potatoes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in an effort towards increasing local production and reducing imports to achieve self-sufficiency and create job opportunities.

The ministry pointed out that investors can send their data to this email: investor@mewa.gov.sa, no later than 05/15/1442 AH corresponding to 30-12-2020.

This opportunity comes within framework of the ministry's constant efforts to achieve sustainable agricultural development, sustainability in local production chains for major crops, and the production of high quality disease-free seed potatoes, which are genetically identical to their mothers, as Saudi Arabia imports large amount of seed potatoes, valued at about SAR75 million.

The Seed Center will undertake the necessary supervision and follow-up processes to approve the seeds and to provide benefits, such as granting the project owner (a license) in the same project for a period of (15) years, in addition to obtaining financing from the Agricultural Development Fund in accordance with specific conditions, and allowing exporting excess potato seeds of the local market needs.
