Given its role in ensuring sufficient supplies of food, especially red meats, the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture temporarily lifted the ban on livestock imports from Somalia to support the local markets.
"It is projected that at least 600,000 sheep and 100,000 camels will be delivered to Saudi local livestock markets within 30 days, after the completion of the regular quarantine period," said the ministry.
The ministry confirmed that this action was taken after setting quarantine requirements that would prevent epidemic diseases from entering the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
