His Excellency the Vice Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour Al Mushaiti today inaugurated the Saudi Green Building Forum and the Role of Civil Society Organizations in Combating Desertification. The event took place on the sidelines of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16), held from December 2 to 13 in the Blue Zone Pavilion.
In his speech, he stated that desertification is a global challenge impacting food security and ecosystems. He emphasized that the Kingdom is addressing this issue through comprehensive development strategies aligned with Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental sustainability and ensures water and food security. Also, The Kingdom adopts an integrated approach to sustainable \ environmental resources management through eco-friendly urban planning and highly efficient smart buildings. This approach helps reduce energy and water consumption while minimizing food loss and waste.
During the event, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Green Building Forum to strengthen collaboration across various sectors to achieve shared environmental objectives.
After his speech, His Excellency Eng. Al-Mushaiti thanked all participants and organizers and expressed his hope for continued collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve national sustainability goals and promote prosperity for current and future generations.
