The first session of the Saudi-Uruguayan Joint Committee kicked off today in Montevideo, Uruguay. Over two days, the committee will focus on enhancing cooperation across many sectors to benefit both countries.
The Saudi delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture, Eng. Ahmad Alayadh, and the Uruguayan side was headed by Dr. Nicolás Albertoni, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
At the opening of the committee's session, Eng. Alayadh stated that these meetings aim to strengthen the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. He noted that this aligns with the general agreement for economic and technical cooperation between the two nations, which seeks to boost collaboration across various sectors.
Eng. Alayadh witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint business council between the Council of Saudi Chambers and the Union of Exporters of Uruguay, supporting trade exchange between the two countries.
During the committee's first session, a comprehensive work program was approved to bolster collaboration across various sectors. Two subcommittees were established to focus on economic, commercial, agricultural, cultural, and sports cooperation.
Both sides expressed their desire to enhance cooperation in different areas such as environment, water, agriculture, food security, energy, health, and investment, highlighting the important role of the private sector in executing joint projects.
