His Excellency Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen A. AlFadley welcomed HE Singapore's Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, where they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of environment, water and waste management. Ministries also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on environmental protection and water resources management.
The MoU aims to deepen cooperation in the fields of integrated water resources management, water supply and alternative sources, wastewater treatment and recycling, and water resources researches and studies. And to develop a fruitful cooperation in field of environmental protection through solid waste management, improving quality of life, pollution control, environmental legislation, environmental awareness and education.
Pursuant to the MoU, the two parties will form a joint team to follow up on the implementation of the necessary measures to promote technology transfer in relevant areas, organize workshops, staff training and capacity-building, and transfer knowledge in the areas of environmental protection and water resources management.
The MoU is part of MEWA's ongoing efforts to strengthen their relations on the basis of equality and mutual interest for the importance of environmental conservation and water resources management in achieving a better and more sustainable future.
