MEWA Announces the Completion of Five Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories

Deputy Minister for Animal Wealth Dr. Hamad Al-Batshan revealed the completion of the construction of five veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the regions of Northern Borders, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Tabuk with a total cost exceeds SAR 65 million. This shall support the ministry’s Initiative of (21) disease surveys and disease-control as one of the initiatives of the National Transformation Program 2020.

Al-Batshan reported that the General Administration of Laboratories has worked on establishing these laboratories in accordance with the standard specifications and with over (100,000) veterinary tests annually. Accordingly, the ministry currently has (17) veterinary quarantines and laboratories within various regions of Saudi Arabia where more than (167) veterinary technician specialists worked in there.

The Ministry has conducted more than (357,000) quality and animal tests in 2017 to cover the ministry's activities in the veterinary diagnosis of livestock diseases, protecting human from animal diseases that can spread between human and animals, as well as enhancing the quality and safety of animal products that reach consumers.
