The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has temporarily banned the imports of fresh pomegranate fruits from Yemen.

The General Director of the Department of Animal Risk Assessment, Dr. Sanad AlHarbi, said that the ban decision was made after it was proven that Yemeni pomegranate fruits exceeded the global residue limits of pesticides.

For his part, the General Director of the General Department for Quarantines, Dr. Osama AlSaleh, confirmed that the ministry, in the interest of protecting the public health, has distributed circulars among all quarantines, and applied precautionary measures for prevention and control of diseases.
