The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced that a ship carrying 19,432 heads of sheep from the Sudanese port of Sawakin arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port, as part of the Ministry's efforts to achieve food security and maintain price stability. This brings the total number of cattle entering Saudi Arabia to 160,472 heads since the beginning of April.
The Ministry said that the sheep were examined upon arrival, and that blood samples were collected and sent to the laboratory.
The Ministry confirmed that based on the lab test results, the sheep were healthy and disease-free. Hence, all quarantine procedures set out in the GCC Veterinary Quarantine Law and its executive regulations in the Kingdom were applied before releasing them.
