During the closing ceremony of the tenth edition of the World Water Forum in Bali, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was officially handed over the hosting of the 11th World Water Forum 2027. The event was attended by heads of participating countries and officials from 160 nations and many international organizations.
The Kingdom's hosting of the 11th World Water Forum, themed "Action for a Better Tomorrow," underscores its leadership in addressing global water issues, supporting regional and international efforts, achieving sustainable development goals, and aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
On this occasion, His Excellency Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadley expressed gratitude to the Kingdom's leadership for their unwavering support of the water sector. This support has driven advancements in water and sanitation services. He noted that the leadership's commitment to addressing global water issues has elevated KSA's international standing, resulting in Riyadh, KSA, winning the opportunity to host this major global event for the first time in the region. Alfadley mentioned the announcement by the HRH Crown Prince of the establishment of a Global Water Organization in Riyadh, to strengthen collective efforts in tackling water challenges.
The Deputy Minister for Water at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Dr. Abdulaziz Alshaibani said"Riyadh will host the 11th World Water Forum 2027, and we aim to ensure that the forum will be a milestone in our collective efforts to secure a better water future for all." Dr.Alshaibani added this event underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing international cooperation in the water sector, exploring innovative solutions, and other issues. He added "The theme, 'Action for a Better Tomorrow,' is inspired by our recognition of the urgent need to address the global water challenges through actions."
Dr. Alshaibani highlighted the Saudi efforts in addressing water challenges globally, which includes water and sanitation development projects, as well as KSA introduced the dialogue on water during its presidency of G20 and contributed to establishing the G20 Water Platform. Dr. Alshaibani indicated that the Kingdom is proactively preparing for the 11th World Water Forum 2027. This preparation involves forming committees and conducting workshops with stakeholders both within and outside Saudi Arabia to identify globally significant topics.
The World Water Forum is the largest international event focused on water. Organized by the World Water Council, the Forum brings together participants from all levels and sectors, including governments, organizations, officials, and specialists in all relevant water fields.
