On the sidelines of the Tenth World Water Forum, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and head of the Kingdom's delegation, held meetings with the Algerian Minister of Irrigation and the Kenyan Minister of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation.
The bilateral meeting between Saudi Arabia and Algeria emphasized the necessity of unified global and local efforts to address the challenges in the water sector. The discussion focused on achieving the goals of the Global Water Organization, launched by the Kingdom, and exchanging experiences to enhance technological expertise, innovation, research and development, and global best practices in water management.
The Saudi and Kenyan representatives agreed to maintain ongoing communication between officials from both countries. The Kenyan Minister praised Saudi Arabia for hosting the next session of the World Water Forum and emphasized the importance of learning from the Kingdom's experiences in water management.
Al-Fadley discussed hosting the 11th World Water Forum in 2027 in Riyadh, under the theme "Action for a Better Tomorrow." He also highlighted the preparations for the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which will take place in Riyadh from December 2 to 13, 2024.
