In his remarks at the high-level meeting of the 10th World Water Forum, His Excellency Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadley emphasized the significant challenges facing global water security and sustainability. He also mentioned the pressure on water resources due to development and climate change, stressing the proactive measures to tackle these issues. Alfadley called for enhancing international cooperation and increasing the role of research and innovation.
Alfadley stated that Saudi Arabia provided a pioneering global experience that contributed to putting water issues to the forefront of the international agenda, also as KSA a G20 member, consistently supports water-related issues, they initiated the G20 Water Platform to promote experience sharing and bolster international cooperation. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia launched various global initiatives, such as the Global Water Organization, to strengthen collective efforts in tackling water security challenges. Additionally, the international aid provided by Saudi Arabia has totaled around $6 billion to countries across many continents.
Al-Fadley highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to organizing and hosting numerous local and international forums and conferences. Recently, the Kingdom organized the third Saudi Water Forum under the theme "Water Sustainability Is Our Responsibility." Riyadh will also host the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the 11th World Water Forum in 2027 under the theme "Action for a Better Tomorrow." These initiatives align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming to enhance its role in addressing global water challenges.
