During the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Wildlife Development chaired by His Excellency Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen A. AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the National Center for Wildlife Development, held on Monday, AlFadley stressed the importance of the Council taking an active role in supervising the work and providing the necessary means to work effectively.
The Council reviewed the National Environment Strategy, the new institutional framework for the environment sector, and the role of the Environment Fund and the new national environmental centers in promoting the protection and development of the environment and achieving the goals of the ambitious Vision 2030, which aims to put the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a leading position on the global scale.
Board Members also approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Qurban as Executive Chairman of the Center, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Suhaibani as Deputy Executive Chairman to lead the Center and implement its programs.
The meeting stressed that the National Center for Wildlife Development, which is considered one of the national environmental centers that have been established upon several resolutions issued this year by the Council of Minister, addresses important aspects of the environment sector; development of terrestrial and marine wildlife, and biodiversity in the Kingdom, protecting endangered species, the management of various programs for the restoration of native endangered species, and the protection of marine ecosystems such as coral reefs, which are the environmental priorities set out by the National Environment Strategy.
